If you need extra stability and control, the U-Step might be your ticket to independence.
Extra Stable U-Shaped Base
With most rollators, you walk behind and push. Not so with the U-Step. It curves around you, its ultra-stable foundation bracing you in every direction. The U-shaped base also promotes better posture by reducing the tendency to lean forward when walking.
As you move, the U-Step moves together with you. More points of contact with the ground mean more stability, and the U-Step has seven wheels to swivel and manage uneven surfaces. By design, the rear wheels are not exactly level with the others. This enables them to stabilize you on ramps or uneven surfaces, without hindering your progress.
Altogether, walking with a U-Step will leave you feeling as stable as when clasping a friend’s arm.
Reverse Braking
The U-Step's innovative braking system is easy to use and puts you in complete control.
The U-Step will not roll unless you are ready to walk. When you lightly squeeze either hand brake, the unit will roll with you. Once you release the hand brake, the walker will stop immediately.
This feature is particularly helpful when you go to stand up from the seat, because the walker will not roll away from you.
A second feature can prevent the U-Step from rolling away from you as you walk. A set of variable-resistance pads regulates the two large wheels on the base. Should you need it, these can be set to apply natural pressure to the wheels, slowing the rollator to match your gait.
Who Can Benefit?
The U-Step is especially helpful for individuals with conditions such as Parkinson’s, MS, stroke, ataxia or PSP.
Optional LaserLight for Parkinson's Freezing
If you suffer from freezing episodes, U-Step has a solution. The optional LaserLight, exclusive to the U-Step, offers a safe, obstacle-free visual cue that helps you break the “freezing episode” and walk normally with increased stride length.
To use, simply press the red button on the handlebar, and the device projects a bright red laser line on the floor, effectively guiding every step you take. In most cases, this visual cue provides adequate stimulus to overcome neurological-based freezing.
