Around the House

Get a Grip

Easy Does It

These devices are easier to turn, grip, hold, or use, making chores (and living!) that much easier.

 Easier Traveling

Survivors with mobility problems will find travel less frustrating and more fun with some pre-planning:

  • Arrange with the hotel to get a handicapped-accessible room or one with an extra-large bathroom.
  • Notify your airline of your needs, so they can arrange any special assistance needed.

Combat Disorientation

BI survivors generally do better with structure and familiarity. Travel offers little of either.  To make things easier on yourself/your survivor when you are away from home:

  • Favor the familiar Stick to known routines as much as possible.  Go to bed and get up at roughly the same time, eat at the same time, etc.

  • Go slow.  Don't try to do too much.  Allow for mental fatigue and "brain hikes."

  • Relax Expect a measure of confusion and frustration.  You can deal...and still have fun!
