Do you worry whether your loved one is taking his/her medications regularly? Now you can know what the situation is, even if you live hundreds of miles away! The MedReady PLUS does more than just dispense medications. It also monitors dispensing times and keeps a record on a secure Internet web site, so you can reassure yourself that all is well, or catch problems early. When medications are not dispensed by the time the alarm silences, the MedReady PLUS will signal for up to three people to be called and, if necessary, for the primary caregiver to be emailed.
What the MedReady PLUS adds to a traditional MedReady
The MedReady PLUS does everything the traditional MedReady does, plus uses a modem to call emergency numbers if meds are not taken (removed from the dispenser). The modem connection also provides distant caregivers with an ongoing record of the times when medications are dispensed.
Like a standard MedReady, the MedReady PLUS locks to prevent accidental double dosing. Each of its 28 compartments will hold up to 11 caplets. Loading the dispenser is straightforward, and using it is easy. The flashing red strobe light catches the eye, providing a visual alert in addition to the audible one - especially handy for those with weak hearing.
How the MedReady PLUS works
Set the MedReady to alarm and dispense medications anywhere from one to four times a day. Plug the unit into your phone jack. You don't even have to give up the phone jack, since the MedReady itself comes with an internal jack. Just plug your phone into the MedReady, and you can still enjoy a phone at that location.
Each day the MedReady modem will log medication compliance information into an Internet reporting system that catalogs the time between the medication-alarm time and the medication-taken time. You can easily monitor this information at http://www.medready.net.
At any time when medications are not removed by the end of the alarm duration (which can be set at 30, 45, 60 or 250 minutes), the MedReady PLUS will signal the Call Center to phone up to three emergency telephone numbers with the message that a dose has been missed. The first number can be used to call the patient.
If the call is picked up by an answering machine, a message is left and the next number called. If all three emergency numbers are called without a response (dialing #1 on the keypad), or if the phone becomes disconnected, then an emergency email is sent to the primary caregiver/family member.
The monthly monitoring service available with the MedReady PLUS modem option runs $16 per month.
As a safety feature, the MedReady PLUS also checks every 24 hours for power outages or telephone failure. The unit comes with a one year warranty.
